Auditioning for College - "Published Plays"

Q: I am an actress that is about to begin auditioning for college theatre departments across the nation. I like your monologues a lot, but I was wondering if they were from published plays? I have to perform monologues from published plays for each audition.
A: The monologues in "44 Fantastic Audition Monologues For Women" are all published monologues (obviously) but, as to their inclusion in plays, it's hard to say really.
As far as I can tell, the audition requirements vary from school to school, but the general idea being that they don't want the actors or actresses to write your own monologue.
If you really connect with the material, my gut says use it. Something to the effect of "This is Lydia Puckett from the Spoon River Anthology" should suffice. Prudence would suggest that you have a back up ready to go as well, perhaps a more well known monologue.
